BHSEC is a very intellectually enhanced program that brings the best out of every student who attends. I was fortunate enough to receive admission in 2003, but, unfortunately, was forced to move to another state due to family situations.
After completing two years at BHSEC, I transferred to a standard piblic school, going in with a respectable GPA at BHSEC, but not so in a public school. After completing the final two years and missing two years of "AP" and "Honors" classes, never have I been personally satisfied with my final acheivement in high school.
I was not accepted into a school, which I am 100% sure I would have received received admission to if I remained at BHSEC.
Transferring out of BHSEC was probably the biggest mistake of my life.

It's definately a very challenging school, and students often cry weeknights and sometimes during the weekends due to the amount of stress. It has been a guiding light for us teenagers, but it has been hard to balance school with social life. Currently, I know many students who are not happy in bard, because of the stress...but we need make some scarifices in out lifetimes and everyone in bard is doing that. NONE OF US HAVE LIVES.

BHSEC is an amazing institution. It has helped me achieve things that I never thought I could achieve on my own. When I applied to colleges every college, except Harvard, accepted me. I currently attend Haverford College and will be graduating with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Philosophy in May 2005. BHSEC has given me the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people and to attend a college with a 3% transfer acceptance rate

(Haverford College has historically never taken more than 4 transfer students. Last year 2 out of the 3 are from the Bard program. This year there are no transfers.)

For anyone interested in meeting with me regarding early colleges, BHSEC, competitive college acceptances, transferring w/ emphasis on emotional and academic concerns, I offer college counseling through Revolution College Counseling Services (RCCS). The rates are very comeptitive and a sliding rate is offered for anyone who can't afford the full cost. Please feel free to email me at josemonraju@hotmail.com for more information or quick quesitons. (No cost) But, please don't use this as a full consultation.

Bard Early College has been a godsend to our daughter, who is in the first Year 1 College class. The classes are challenging in ways that are considerably different from any high school, as they demand deep thoughtfulness rather than memorization. There is a rich intellectual environment that is also very nuturing rather than competitive. And there is the diversity in the student body that is why many parents choose public over private education.
